Seacoast Respiratory's Parent Firm Honored by Family Business Association

Cape Medical Supply Honored as MA Family Business of the Year

Seacoast Respiratory is honored to announce the selection of Cape Medical Supply, Seacoast Respiratory’s parent company, as the MA Family Business of the Year by the Family Business Association (FBA). The award, announced during a special reception at the Royal Sonesta in Cambridge, MA was in the Mid-Size Business category, defined as 50-150 employees. The awards ceremony was attended by over 500 individuals, including finalists, past awardees, sponsors and members of the media.

“It was a very special night for our family and for our entire organization,” commented CEO Gary Sheehan. “Though we are a family owned business we recognize our success is derived primarily from the non-family members who make up our team…this award is really recognition of their efforts and something they should all take great pride in. We were surprised and honored to win, especially given the strength of the competition – New England is blessed to have a deep pool of vibrant family owned businesses and that is a community we are very proud to be a part of.”

The Family Business Association, Inc. is a non-profit, independent organization created to honor family owned businesses and their achievements. Their goal is to accomplish the following:
• highlight successful family businesses;
• recognize excellence within family businesses with an annual awards program;
• highlight how family businesses have succeeded;
• honor family businesses that have dealt with adversity; and
• recognize family businesses for their philanthropic efforts

“Receiving the award honored my life's work and validated the fact that I'd successfully implemented the values that have meaning in my life,” commented company co-founder Nancy Sheehan. “I was incredibly proud of my whole family and wished my "cohort", my recently deceased husband, could have shared in the joy with us when the award was announced.”

Cape Medical Supply was founded by husband and wife team Mark and Nancy Sheehan in 1977 and today has three second generation family members, Mark and Nancy’s sons, involved; Gary Sheehan (CEO), Michael Sheehan (Director of Purchasing), and Kevin Sheehan (Director of Professional Relations for Seacoast Respiratory). Cape Medical Supply founded Seacoast Respiratory in June of 2011 following the acquisition of Seacoast Sleep Solutions of Kittery, ME.
